Submissions close at 2:00 PM

How to submit

Every team gets its own Google Drive folder. You submit by putting your work in it.

  1. Find your team folder. The link is on your table card. Anyone with the link can edit it, so keep it inside your team.
  2. By 2:00 PM, put your work in the folder:
    • Slides (required): Google Slides, PowerPoint or PDF. Name the file "Team N slides", with your team number. Include one slide called "AI we used and how we checked it". For example: "We used Gemini Notebook to answer permit questions. We checked 10 answers against the city's pages. 8 were right. For the other 2, it said it didn't know."
    • Code, if you have it: a zip file, a notebook, or a link.
    • A demo link, if you have one.
    • Screenshots.
Then open the "Our project" Doc in your team folder and fill it in: your project name, your main track written as "Track N (Name)", the AI you used and how you checked it, and your links.
  3. Check your outside links. Anything outside the folder (GitHub, Colab, Replit, a demo) must open for someone who isn't signed in. Check each link in a private window. Windows: Ctrl+Shift+N (Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P). Mac: Cmd+Shift+N (Firefox: Cmd+Shift+P). Phone: open a private tab.
  4. Submissions close at 2:00 PM. Stop building and don't change your folder after that. You present the version in your folder. Google Drive keeps a history of every change.
  5. Can't get online or into your folder before 2:00? Tell HAI staff, or email initiatives@houstonaiinstitute.com with the subject "SUBMISSION Team N", your links and your main track.
  6. By submitting, your team agrees to the rules, including sharing your project as open source.

You'll need to be signed in to Google to add files.

Rules in short

  • Submit by 2:00 PM, in your team folder. Stop building at 2:00 and present the version in your folder.
  • Build your project on the day. Ideas, public data and public code libraries are fine. A project you built before the event isn't.
  • Every project is shared as open source. Make your code and links public.
  • Use public data, or the data on this site. Say where your data came from.
  • Don't add anyone's private information. Even with public data, we suggest leaving names out.
  • Include one slide called "AI we used and how we checked it".
  • Present live, in 4 minutes. No videos.
  • The program director rules on anything these rules don't cover.
